The Pegasus Bridge near the town of Ouistreham - Operation Deadstick

The taking of the Pegasus bridge took place in a few minutes, as the British troops managed to catch the Germans by surprise. On the Pegasus Bridge there was the first fallen ally of all D-Day, Lieutenant Dan Brotheridge.
