The entrance to Salimbeni buildings
The entrance to Palazzo Salimbeni, located in the heart of Siena, in Piazza Salimbeni, is an example of majestic neo-Gothic architecture. Characterized by merlons, Lombard bands and elegant triple windows, the palace dominates the square and testifies to the grandeur of this historic building. Built in the 14th century by the powerful Salimbeni family, the palace became the seat of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena in 1866. Founded in 1472, this bank is the oldest in the world still in operation.
