Vico delle Scale: A Picturesque Corner of the Blue town of Casamassima
Casamassima, known as the “blue town,” offers unique views such as that of Vico delle Scale, a lively alley in the heart of the historic center. The characteristic blue of the buildings, a distinctive symbol of this part of Puglia, stands out in a special way. This color was a source of inspiration for the Milanese painter Vittorio Viviani, who visited the village in the 1960s and was so fascinated that he dedicated several works to it. Vico delle Scale owes its name to the numerous stone stairways in front of the houses, adding a picturesque and traditional touch to the townscape.
