picture of the facade of the romanesque basilica di San Nicola
The Basilica of San Nicola was built between the 11th and 12th centuries. In Romanesque style, the salient façade is flanked by two towers, one on each side. Inside the church there are the relics of Saint Nicholas, who were moved by the Bari sailors in the 11th century. It is now a place of worship for both Roman Catholic worshipers and Orthodox Christians.
